What was once considered extraordinary is now a new reality. Droughts, rainfall and storms take turns destroying harvests and hopes. These difficulties are compounded by geopolitical conflicts, civil wars and terrorist attacks. SWISSAID has adapted to these new conditions in order to provide the best possible help to the target groups in its areas of intervention. In addition to long-term aid, SWISSAID also provides immediate and targeted support for people in need.

Earthquake in Colombia

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia and severely affected several regions of the country. SWISSAID is releasing CHF 100,000 in emergency aid to address the immediate needs of affected communities.

Conflicts in Sudan, refugees in Chad

Chad is facing a massive influx of refugees from Sudan. Essential resources such as food and water are scarce. SWISSAID has launched an emergency aid project to support 10,000 families in one of the country’s largest refugee camps and surrounding villages, aiming to improve access to water and food security.

Earthquake in Myanmar

An extremely violent earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday March 28, destroying homes, roads and bridges. SWISSAID is providing rapid and targeted emergency assistance to an already severely affected population.
