Poverty, inequality and violence are part of everyday life for Colombia’s rural population. If the population is strengthened, sustainable peace can flourish.

SWISSAID is working with civil society organisations to create fairer conditions for small farmers in Colombia. Agro-ecological agriculture and equality are central to this. Peace in Colombia will only be possible if the livelihoods of women and men in rural areas are improved and a policy is promoted that favours the smallholder farmers and the indigenous and Afro-Colombian population.

The Goals

Men and women from rural, indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities increase their agro-ecological production and their income.
Civil society organisations successfully implement rural projects for the benefit of these communities.
Men and women, adults and young people live together with less gender-based violence.
Women and young people participate more in local and institutional decision-making bodies.

The Colombia country program is co-financed by the SDC program contribution.
