In Africa the water supply is precarious in many places. Everywhere in the world, the climate crisis is making the careful use of water a pressing issue.

Less than half of the rural population in Niger, Chad and Tanzania has access to drinking water or toilets. In times of climate crisis, however, water management is an issue everywhere – especially in small-scale agriculture. SWISSAID supports the construction of water and sanitation facilities which are adapted to the conditions in project countries as well as being as cost-effective as possible, economically sustainable and well planned technologically. And we are committed to setting up administrative structures and committees who look after the facilities and raise awareness among the population.
